Yep, I’ve finally gone for it.
I’ve been deliberating over going ahead and starting a YouTube channel – to basically host the babbling that I don’t fit into my posts on here – for a few months now. Given that I hadn’t vlogged since 2011, when it was still considered odd to do, I was always kind of put off. Then I made some margaritas.
The margaritas were supposed to motivate me to sit and write some more of my dissertation, but just like red wine caused me to start this blog back in November 2016, my attention ended up getting caught up in the idea of launching a video platform. So, now we have whathannahwrote… and whathannahdid. I know, I’m a genius.
I very hastily filmed myself rambling into my iPhone camera, edited on iMovie, and uploaded it to YouTube within around an hour. Probably my most productive moment in the last academic year; sadly I used all of my determination on launching a YouTube career rather than on my literature review.
Below is the end product of such an effort – make of it what you will, but please do not judge my penguin Christmas pyjamas, as they are really comfy and it was snowing last week so it’s still acceptable to wear them. Maybe not when you’re posting a video of yourself out to the world, but I’m sure all 38 views won’t have minded.
What a thumbnail!
So yeah, I think this is going to be a thing now. As mortified as I was to wake up the next day and realise it wasn’t a dream, I’m kind of excited at the thought of trying out vlogging once again. I freaked out and deleted all trace of any previous efforts out of embarrassment after my high school teachers found them and called me out on them, so surely at the age of 21 I should be safe enough now.
Due to my inability to do anything interesting enough to warrant regular uploading while I undergo my final few weeks at university, I’m planning on uploading on a weekly basis. Hopefully all goes well – we’ll soon see, I’m sure!
