Hello all, and welcome to a new era on whathannahwrote where I am no longer an undergraduate student. But also not strictly unemployed either… Somewhere in the middle I think? What am I?
As if the last few days haven’t been a little bit rollercoaster-like with finishing up my degree, it’s also been bank holiday weekend – and the first in some time that I’ve actually acknowledged. Not for any particular reason, but it’s been a weekend full of celebrations (and some tears, of course, because it’s me) and SUN. I’m currently perched next to a fan aimed at my flatmate’s hamster’s cage, seeking some sort of escape from the sauna-esque temperatures my living room has reached.
I’ve been determined to make use of items in my wardrobe that I never ever wear this weekend. I have SO many cute outfits, but I’m either too scared to wear them, or I realise that I’m in the middle of Glasgow and not Milan. A colour (is it a colour?) that I have multiple items in but don’t wear all too often is white – I’ll wear the odd white blouse or vest, but I try not to dress myself in any other white outfits because knowing my luck, they’ll be a totally different colour after about half an hour. But the weekend’s sun inspired me, and so I decided to ignore inner-me shouting “nooo! White flares on a night out = disaster!”. I very rarely write any posts about my clothes, so here’s a little gloss over my outfits the last three days:
If you’re looking to make ABBA jokes, you’re too late – I’ve already made multiple comments about looking like the fifth member in this outfit. I never really understood flares previously, and only really paid attention because my mum was excited that they were back in fashion. These came from Pretty Little Thing, and they looked nice so I figured I’d buy them and take a chance on them (POST EDIT – THAT WAS NOT AN ABBA JOKE) working as “going-out” trousers. I now love them!! (Although they will be the first casualty in the event of a vodka and coke spillage, trust me).
So, I woke up on Sunday, put on jeans and a top and ran downstairs to grab a drink from a nearby shop… and it was warm? Like properly warm, not Scottish warm. Whit!?
Cue this outfit choice. I bought this playsuit for something like £3 in a Boohoo sale back in February, and I had imagined wearing it on holiday somewhere… except a) I haven’t booked any holidays and b) I can’t afford to actually book anywhere right now. So, I wore it to Glasgow Green and posed like a tourist everywhere.
Here’s me just frolicking about under some cherry blossoms, totally natural.
I know my last post was all about de-stressing with tea and walks and stuff, but today I needed to hit some things. So I went to a driving range and whacked some golf balls about for an hour (very recommended, gets all your frustrations out). I don’t know why I decided that this is how golfers dress, but this was my outfit choice. And I am SUPER glad it was because I swear we might as well have been angrily whacking golf balls abroad – and there’s a reason you don’t tend to do that abroad, at least not angrily. I opted for a white tee so it was neutral alongside the bright red shorts – I’m normally really wary about wearing white tops cause I’m incredibly bad for getting foundation marks all over them (I know, I’m that person) but I managed to avoid it today! Also, I totally forgot I owned this bag until today!
