REVIEW: Laura Lee Los Angeles Nudie Patootie Palette

Now I know that Laura Lee has been receiving quite a bit of backlash recently, so I kind of dithered over the decision to do this review. But I figured that it’s more about the product itself than the person behind it, and it is a gorgeous palette. I didn’t think it was possible to fall in love with an eyeshadow palette. But, as it turns out, I’ve been proven wrong.

Admittedly, I’m not very in-the-know when it comes to YouTubers in general, let alone those who specialise in beauty. I probably should be paying more attention, but it tends to be the case that I only learn about individuals when a beauty product is shown to me – which is exactly what happened here. If you’d asked me a short time ago about¬†Laura Lee’s Nudie Patootie¬†palette, truthfully, I wouldn’t have had a clue what you were on about. Enter, Beth (yes, you got a mention again!). Beth raved on about this palette for the whole week she waited for it to arrive. And when it did arrive, I could definitely see why.

The palette consists of 14 gorgeous shades, of which there are eight mattes, four shimmers and two foils. As soon as I got a glimpse of the shadows, I was immediately drawn to the shade “Jaybird” – the foil in the bottom centre (I’ll get back to that one…):

As you can probably tell from the above photo, the palette did not avoid being dipped straight into before I could even get a picture!

For my usual day-to-day eye looks I very rarely stray away from nudes and softer shades, so as soon I opened the palette, I was totally drawn into the shadows on offer. Add that onto the fact that the mattes are perfect for a smoky-yet-subtle look, and I was hooked. I’ve seen a few reviews that seem to think that the mattes aren’t all that pigmented and require a couple of applications to get a good colour, but I can’t say I’ve had any issue with them. Maybe it’s just because I don’t tend to go for dramatic eyes – I certainly find that the amount I apply stands out nonetheless!

AS FOR THE FOILS. Oh my goodness. These are so soft that literally just tapping your finger in them will give you enough to create a shimmery eye look. I became obsessed with Jaybird just because of its pink tones – of course – but the actual formula is just amazing. I can’t say that I had any issue with fallout or anything, but I did try to use it sparingly given that it wasn’t actually my palette. This might be something I’ll need to ask for Beth’s opinion on!

Swatches are below; I used flash on the image on the right just to show off the shimmery shades even more. Although it shows just how pigmented some of the colours really are!

I genuinely think this is a palette that could suit both lovers of neutral and bold, heavy looks. The shades give very pretty nudes, but their pigmentation makes them perfect for creating striking results if need be.

All in all, this is a product that I’d thoroughly recommend – I’m 100% treating myself to my own one!

Very pretty palette! I love every shade. I’ve tried watching her videos but all of the extra noises she makes are just too much for me.
