The super-affordable Superdrug skincare range I’m LOVING right now

I’ve been meaning to write about this for a LOOOONG time.

My skin’s been a bit temperamental for a good while now, and things really peaked back at the start of the year. I couldn’t work out what was upsetting it, but it turned into a mix of eczema and a slight touch of acne. Everything you want when you’re 22 and you think your teenage skin problems are behind you!

Admittedly, I didn’t really moisturise as often as I should’ve. I’ve used many fab moisturisers over the years, but as soon as they run out I tend to just forget to replace them and commit total skin sacrilege by cutting it out of my skincare routine without really noticing. I realised that perhaps this could be the reason behind my skin turning on me, so I sought out a decent moisturiser that could help me out. I fully expected to have to fork out to get anything that would make a difference, so I was a little wary about finding something worth paying for.

When I mentioned this to my friends, however, it was suggested that I try out Superdrug’s Vitamin E range. They had an offer on their products at the time, and they were super affordable – but honestly, this kind of put me off at first. It seems silly now, but I’m just hesitant to try new things in case it causes a flare up (I have super-sensitive skin) and over the years I’d found that for some reason, the more expensive something was, the less likely it was to aggravate my skin. But at that point I was just tired of being so embarrassed by my face that I was willing to try anything.

I picked up their SPF15 Moisturising Day Cream and their Nourishing Night Cream. They’re both for normal to dry skin and provide ’24 hour moisturisation’, and are priced at £3.49 each. It was worth a try at that price, obviously!

I honestly wish I’d taken before and after photos – hindsight is a wonderful thing. I used the night moisturiser every night and then applied the day cream either a few times during the day if I was going make-up free around the house, or under my make-up if I was heading out. After a matter of days, my skin was noticeably clear – to the point where I was even going out without make-up on! I’d worn foundation practically every time I’ve gone out since I was about 11, so this was a huge thing for me.

I even went out one night for catch-up drinks with friends and felt incredibly chuffed with myself for having enough confidence to be in public without having anything on my face. That sounds really strange, doesn’t it? But it was just something I never ever did, so I was really pleased.

This isn’t a sponsored post, but rather just a show of appreciation for a range that provides great results while also costing pennies! I love finding products that are both useful and cheap – mostly because it’s unfortunately quite rare for me – and so I just wanted to pass this on. And now you know!

P.S. My mum uses the Intensive All Over Body Cream and says it’s also a great pick from the range!
